Tudor Style

This modern interpretation of a Tudor style dining room has a lot going for it.  There are many formal elements such as millwork, crown molding and leaded glass, yet feels modern and eclectic rather than formal and traditional.  The taupe gray wall color has a lot of green in it and looks warm and inviting.  We like the crown molding painted a darker gray tone, which compliments the wall color.  The millwork on the walls creates a geometric element that feels modern and the painted flower in the corner adds life and brings interest to an otherwise dull corner.

The robin's egg blue glass shades on the wall sconces and chandelier add charm to the taupe gray wall color. The Mission style buffet with leaded glass looks like a built in, but may be an antique and we like it paired with the eclectic mix of furnishings.  The living room and its vertical millwork are visible through the doorway, which is an eye-catching feature.  The fuchsia juju hat looks framed by the doorway, as the bright punch of color is carried over into the dining room in the two small paintings.  While we like the colorful addition to the room, the scale feels too small for the wall and they detract from the painted flower.  Perhaps a larger painting or a group of four or six small works of art would fit the wall better.  However, this room is gorgeous as it is.
